It hasn’t been long since the Czech Republic regulated their online gaming market. After this step was concluded, the next one brings them in the battle to help people in the territory avoid problem gambling. Restricting the online bonuses and free bets seems to be a way to go. After a completed research, those are concerns over alleged links between these promotions and problem gambling. A few days ago, the Ministry of Finance published document detailing its fears over operators’ bonuses. In this one it was told that players who have a problem gaming behaviour are induced in new gambling problems. Additionally, for that reason, the bonuses and operators’ promotions should be controlled.
The document was published in the late days of August. This one stated that that the application of the law will be within the jurisdiction of the authority responsible for issuing and implementing permits. “The casinos, appealing to instant and seemingly easy winnings, have become typical not only of the suburbs of the Czech cities. But also of the centres of smaller municipalities. And all of the related socially harmful activities pose a threat to public order and peaceful coexistence.
Given the fact that gambling is an area of business that carries a negative social cost, a new legal framework has been put in place to improve consumer protection. And this happens as it causes pathological gambling and associated undesirable manifestations in a particular part of the population. It is a fact now that the conditions under which gambling can be run should be restricted. And not only the conditions relating to the direct provision of gambling. But also related activities such as advertising and others, ”
Finally, this will not be the only policy that is about to be passed by the Czech legislators. Moreover, as it was announced, there are more to come in the next few months.
